Weston Park

    About the Park

Weston Park was given to the Town of Merrimack by One Line Realty Development, LLC, in 1996. This park of 5.8 acres is located near the geographical center of Merrimack, and is bounded by Turkey Hill Road, Meetinghouse Road and the Souhegan River.

The site of the Old Meeting House and its associated burying ground is located in this park on Meetinghouse Road. The foundation of the former Turkey Hill Road covered bridge is located on the banks of the Souhegan River a few feet south of the present bridge.

Weston Park is an ecologically diverse area with habitats ranging from wetlands along the river to dry uplands by the Old Meeting House and Graveyard. There is a large Mountain-laurel (Kalmia latifolia) thicket in the woods adjacent to the river and many American Hornbeam trees (Carpinus caroliniana) grow on the river’s banks. The burial ground, because it has been relatively undisturbed for over 200 years, is home to a wide variety of native grasses, lichens and wild flowers, including some species that are threatened or endangered in New Hampshire.

Activities at Weston Park include fishing, carry-in boating, picnicking, and winter sledding.
