Come  and join Merrimack Parks & Recreation on Sunday, October 18th, 2026  as we travel down to the Citizens Bank Opera House in Boston to see the  acclaimed production of "Wicked" on Stage.
 

The untold true story of the Witches of Oz
So much happened before Dorothy dropped in. WICKED, the Broadway  sensation, looks at what happened in the Land of Oz... but from a  different angle. 

Price  includes tickets in the Left Mezzanine level seats in rows K - O,   along deluxe motor coach transportation to the show. Seating  assignments will be placed based upon order of registration received. We  will hand out the tickets to you when you get on the bus on the day of  the show to avoid lost tickets.

Let the energetic Parks & Recreation Department staff give you a break so you can take some time to enjoy a night out without your children. Campers in Kindergarten through 6th grade are welcome to join us this Halloween themed fun filled evening with Halloween themed games, a spooky dance party, and dessert decorating.
 

Pizza will be served for dinner.
 

Participants are welcome to attend in their Halloween themed costumes. We ask that all fake weapons (i.e. lightsabers, swords, blasters, etc.) are left at home. 

Saturday, October 24th

The Safe Sitter Babysitting Course prepares students to be safe when they are home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. Students learn how to practice important safety skills, handle emergencies, care for children, and treat illnesses and injuries.

Participants will learn tips to manage behavior along with the ages and stages of child development. Class will also include rescue skills such as choking rescue and CPR and how to assess and respond to injuries and illnesses. Lastly this course will teach participants how to screen jobs, discuss fees, and greet employers to set students up for success now and in the future. Students practice these skills through various role plays.

The lessons are filled with fun activities and role-playing exercises. Students learn how to prevent unsafe situations and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies. Students who complete the course receive a Safe Sitter® Completion Certificate.

Get ready for a spooktacular evening of Halloween fun for the whole family! The Merrimack Parks & Recreation Department and Merrimack Public Library are teaming up to bring the community an evening filled with Halloween activities, costumes, treats, and a FREE outdoor movie!

Come dressed in your favorite Halloween costume, bring your trick-or-treat bag, and join us for Trunk or Treat, a Costume Contest, food and refreshments, and a FREE Movie Night in the Park featuring Minions & Monsters.

A 2.5-Hour Hands-On Cooking Class with Chef AJ Lucas
Learn the techniques that make you a better cook.
Move beyond simply following recipes and learn how professional chefs approach cooking. This interactive, chef-led class focuses on practical techniques you can use in your own kitchen every day.

WHAT WE’LL COVER
• Knife Skills — proper handling, cutting techniques and kitchen efficiency
• Seasoning & Flavor — balancing salt, acid, fat, herbs and spices
• Heat & Technique — when to sear, sauté, roast and finish
• Sauces — the fundamentals of pan sauces, reductions and finishing sauces
• Tasting Like a Chef — how to taste, adjust and build confidence while cooking

THE EXPERIENCE
This is a hands-on class, not simply a demonstration. Chef AJ will demonstrate each technique, then participants will have the opportunity to practice, cook, taste and plate throughout the class. We’ll finish by sitting down together to enjoy the food and discuss the techniques used.

Join Merrimack Parks and Recreation as we head to the Mohegan Sun Casino in CT to attend the New England Christmas Festival.

The New England Christmas Festival is an eagerly anticipated annual event that offers everything a holiday shopper could desire under one magnificent roof at the Mohegan Sun Earth Expo Center.  The Festival makes preparing for the holidays a breeze by bringing together 350+ Art, Craft & Specialty Food American Artisans from all over the country that come to display and sell their unique products, all made by hand.

There is something for everyone, and in all price ranges. The array of handmade products includes stunning jewelry, seasonal decorations, photography, distinctive home accessories, children's toys and clothes, pet specialties, gifts for the sports minded, specialty foods and much much more. These are items that will not be found on store shelves, but rather cater to those looking for "something more."

Trip departs from the Exit 8 Park & Ride in Nashua at 8:00 am arrives at the Casino by 10:00 am. Price includes luxury motorcoach transportation and a ticket to the New England Christmas Festival. Trip departs the Casino at 4:00 pm to return home by 6:00 pm.  Advanced registration is required and spaces are limited!

Want to head to the Casino but not attend the Christmas Festival. There is an option for transportation only to the Casino for a reduced fee. There are no casino bonuses being offered.
