2024 Holiday Parade

Sunday, December 8, 2024

The Parks & Recreation Department would like to invite you to join us this Sunday, December 8thin kicking off the official Holiday Season in Merrimack at the 31st Annual Holiday Parade & Tree Lighting Event. 


Our theme this year is: A Charlie Brown Christmas
 

The Annual Holiday Parade will kick off at 3:00 p.m. from the Commons Shopping Plaza located at 515 Daniel Webster Highway and will end in the Town  Hall parking lot located at 6 Baboosic Lake Road.  The Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place immediately after the Parade arrives at Town Hall (at approximately 3:45 pm.

PARADE ROUTE:

When the Parade kicks off, it will take a left onto Daniel Webster Highway and will proceed south towards the center of Town. It will then take a right onto Baboosic Lake Road and then a left onto McElwain Street where it will them pull into the Town Hall Parking Lot. The address of Town Hall is 6 Baboosic Lake Road and the parade route is approximately 1 miles long. 


VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:

We are also in need of Volunteers to help us to coordinate the parade lineup. Volunteers are needed from 1:15 - 3:15 pm. If you are interested in volunteering, please click here to sign up and additional details will be sent out to you the week beforehand.

Questions?

All floats in the Parade should check in at the Parade Staging Area at the Commons Shopping Plaza between 1:45 - 2:45 pm at the Parks & Recreation Table in front of Tractor Supply.  All floats will be lining up along Front Street (and not in the parking lot).

Annual Holiday Tree Lighting

Approximate Start Time: 3:45 pm

TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY:
The Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held at Abbie Griffin Park which is located behind Merrimack Town Hall and which will be begin immediately after the parade arrives at Abbie Griffin Park. 


TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY SCHEDULE: 

  • Holiday Music Playing with DJ Darren Roy - while we wait for Santa’s arrival.
  • Performance by the Merrimack High School Marching Band 
  • Santa will then count down to the Lighting of the Abbie Griffin Park Bandstand with the help of the audience.
  • Broadway Bound Performing Arts Center performing "Shake Santa Shake" 
  • Performance by Miss Liberty - Veronika Sokel performing "White Christmas"
  • Mrs. Claus will invite the children to gather around the bandstand as she reads “Twas The Night Before Christmas."
  • Santa and Mrs. Claus will then invite everyone to form a line and come to meet them. Parents are welcome to take photos.  


Other Activities:

  • B Well Studios will be offering a free craft during the event
  • Merrimack Girl Scouts will be giving away free cookies at the event.
  • Merrimack Public Library will be giving away free books at the event.
  • Triangle Credit Union will have giveaways and candy canes
  • Greater Merrimack Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce has coloring pages
  • The Rotary Club of Merrimack will be giving away hot chocolate
  • Merrimack Town Council will be on hand to answer questions on the state of the Town.
