2019 Holiday Happenings

3rd Candy Cane Hunt: 1:30 - 3:00 pm at Twin Bridge Park 

Annual Holiday Parade Start Time: 3:00 pm

Tree Lighting at Abbie Griffin Park: Approximately 3:45 pm

Event Details

Please join us at Twin Bridges Park & Kids Cove for this FREE event will be held immediately before this year's Annual Holiday Parade & Tree Lighting Ceremony

Check in will  begin at 1:30pm and candy cane hunt will begin promptly at 2:00pm where  thousands of candy canes will be scattered around the park and hidden  for children ages 0-12.  

We will break off into three age groups. 

  • 0-4 on Bise Baseball Field
  • 5-7 on Bise Baseball Field
  • 8-12 in the Kids Kove Playground

If you find a Gold Candy Cane you can redeem it for a special Grand Prize!

26th Annual Holiday Parade


Annual Holiday Parade & Tree Lighting:

The Annual Holiday Parade will kick off from the Commons Shopping Plaza (515 Daniel Webster Highway) at 3:00 pm.


Parade participants can begin checking in at the staging area at 1:45 PM for the Parade. When you arrive at the shopping plaza, look for the registration table and Parks & Recreation Department Pickup Truck, which will be near the entrance to the parking lot; in front of Tractor Supply Store.

Please send one (1) representative from your group to check in so that we know that you have arrived.  When you check in, parade volunteers will direct to you your location in the parade. We would like all groups to check in no later than 2:40 pm so that we can get you into your correct starting position and have the parade leave promptly at 3:00 pm

The Parade will turn left out of the plaza and travel South down Daniel Webster Highway to the center of Town; where it will turn right onto Baboosic Lake Road and then left onto McElwain  Street and end in the Town Hall Parking Lot (6 Baboosic Lake Road).

Tree Lighting Ceremony

Tree Lighting Details

The Annual  Tree Lighting Ceremony will begin at approximately 3:45 pm with the arrival of Santa & Mrs. Claus, to Abbie Griffin Park.  

Tree Lighting Ceremony Participants (as of 12/5/19):

  • Holiday Music Playing with DJ Darren Roy - while we wait for Santa’s arrival.
  • Girl Scout Troop 10375 will be providing free hot chocolate and cookies during the event.
  • Miss Merrimack's Outstanding Teen - Molly Morin, Miss Greater Hooksett's Outstanding Teen - Alanna Tobin, Miss Merrimack - Megan Soucy, Miss Greater Hooksett - Kaley Missert will have a table setup signing autographs.
  • Merrimack High School Marching Band will perform several holiday songs. 
  • Broadway Bound Performing Arts Center performing to “Oh Santa!” by Mariah Carey. 
  • Santa Claus will then count down to the Lighting of Abbie Griffin Park and the Christmas Tree with the help of the audience.
  • Musical Performance by Miss Merrimack's Outstanding Teen - Molly Morin - "White Christmas" 
  • Emcee will announce Float Winners.
  • Mrs. Claus will invite the children to gather around the bandstand as she reads “Twas The Night Before Christmas."
  • Santa and Mrs. Claus will then invite everyone to form a line and come to meet them. Parents are welcome to take photos.
