Merrimack Summer Stage

The Lion King Experience: Kids

The Merrimack Summer Stage Theater Program will be returning to the Wasserman Park Theater this summer.

Welcome to The Lion King Experience! Disney's The Lion King has captivated the imagination of audiences around the world and now, for the first time ever, you have the opportunity to produce this one-of-a-kind musical in your school. The African Savannah comes to life on your stage with Simba, Rafiki and an unforgettable cast of characters as they journey from Pride Rock to the jungle... and back again, in this inspiring, coming-of-age tale.

In this week long theater camp; participants will learn about scene acting, vocal work, dance and creative movement, theater games and improvisation. Participants will work together to produce a theatrical program that will be performed at the last day of the Theater Camp. When participants are not rehearsing, fun crafts and activities will be supervised by staff.

Don’t miss out on a fun-filled week of learning and performing. It will be amazing to observe the strides the participants make in just one week. Merrimack Summer Stage is for participants between the ages of 8 – 15 years old and the program runs Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. Participants should bring a water bottle and lunch with them daily.  Snacks will be provided.

Staffing:

The Summer Stage program will once again be led by Jennifer Erdody who currently works as a music teacher for Milford High School and who also has an extensive music and theater background. Since 2007 she has served as the Music Director for the Riverbend Youth Company under the Souhegan Valley Boys & Girls Club.

She has also served as the Music Director for both the Souhegan Valley Chorus and the Mont Vernon Community Messiah Sing and has acted a number of plays & musicals over the years. Jennifer has a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Boston University.   She will be assisted by a number of high school & college aged students who also have a background in theater in performing arts.

COVID-19 Statement (updated 4/7/222):

This summer, we are planning for a return to some sort of normalcy.  Based upon updated guidance from the NH Department of Public Health, masks are now optional at camp based on the individual’s personal choice, except in the case of required isolation or quarantine.

VACCINATIONS:

While not mandatory; it is strongly recommended that all campers & staff get fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to help avoid introducing COVID-19 into the camp setting and associated consequences such as needing to quarantine due to exposure.

WHAT DOES FULLY VACCINATED MEAN?

  • Campers 5 years of age and older it is recommended to be vaccinated against COVID-19 with two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
  • Campers & Staff between the ages of 12 years of age to 17 years of age should be vaccinated against COVID-19 with two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine as well as receiving a Booster dose.
  • Staff Members who are 18 and older should have received two doses of either the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna Vaccines or a Single Dose of the Johnson & Johnson / Jannsen Vaccine. Everyone ages 18 years and older should get a booster dose of either Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna Vaccine.

COVID-19 DAILY WELLNESS CHECK:

Parents and campers are required to answer these questions daily prior to campers leaving the car:

  • Has your child had fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, vomiting, diarrhea, or a rash in the last 5 days?
  • Has your child been exposed to someone who has been diagnosed with the COVID‐19?
  • Campers or Staff who have new/unexplained symptoms of COVID-19 should be kept home and tested for COVID-19 and must have a negative test result before coming back to camp.

In the age of COVID, we're all used to  this by now. We hope you will go with the flow and understand that no matter what happens, we will always error on the side of keeping campers, staff and the public safe while presenting the best possible program for kids.

After signing up for Merrimack Summer Stage:

  • You’ll receive an email invite to share information with Merrimack Parks & Recreation.
  • Click ‘Complete Request’ to create a free account, or log-in if you already have an existing ePACT account.
  • Enter the required information, like medical conditions and emergency contact information as well as upload your child's record of immunizations and record of a physical.
  • Required questions will be marked with an * and outlined in red.
  • If you're on a phone/tablet, you can take a picture to upload the document.
  • Keep in mind that you can return to the website at any time to make updates to your child’s health information in the event that you do not have access to all of the relevant information  when you begin the process. You can make changes to your child’s account up until 2 weeks before your program begins.  You can log in using the email address and password you previously created.
